New town new post..

Been a long while since I posted an Update..

I've moved job and moved home. I'm now in a great little town called Littleport near Cambridge. I've found a new RC club and have a couple of new cars :)

The new club are about to build a permanent outdoor off-road track so I'm very excited about that. I've delayed the finishing of my Sand rat project to use the car as a club car and host a Macnum championship. I have 2 Macnum's already and will hopefully have 2 more for when the track opens next year.

I also have one of the outstanding new Maverick XB Evo's and a Maverick Scout the Rock Crawler. Both are very high spec and I'm looking forward to hop-in them up and running them in some competitions next year.

I'll post some pics of the new cars soon.

Custom bits!

This weekend will see me making my first custom parts for my Sandrat... body mounts.

Nothing special but still needed to support the Baja shell.

Next will be a new chassis plate, not to replace the current chassis but to augment and to allow me to have front and rear alloy bumpers :)

The Sand Rat is coming :)

At least it's Logo anyway :)

Something coming!!

Been focused on the Westhill club for the last few months but I have something cool coming soon.

I've entered into a build off competition on the URC forums and have decided to do a modification of an Ansmann macnum. My basic concep
t is a classic Baja Bug... I'm calling it the Sand Rat and will start the build next week. I'll be posting as in-depth build report as possible and include hopefully a couple of custom elements. Stay tuned :)

Home Grass Track

This past weekend was great!...got a grass track set up in my garden, just a simple design for now to practise cornering but I will add a jump at least soon.

The X-Pro was doing very well...granted the axles do pick up a lot of grass cuttings, more due to my crappy flymo then probs with the car. I will race with the X-Pro if anyone else around is going to do some 2wd racing... I'm interested to see how it copes with a decent track and other cars of the same class. I might try and get a cheap brushless combo and convert the X-Pro to LiPo later, we'll see...

I've also just revived and also orderd a Losi Brushless combo 10.5t rig for my new car the Schumacher CAT SX2!!. To make all things clear... I got a 6.5t combo from oOple which I will use/keep in a future project, got a good deal on this for only £80. I've also ordered a brand new 10.5t Losi Combo for my CAT SX2 which I will use for racing at Stonehaven.

I'm also waiting on all my LiPo upgrade items, charger, battery etc...should be in next week. Just gotta get the CAT now :)

testing 1, 2...1, 2

Been doing lots of testing and set up drives recently. All on grass which I've not done much of so the results to begin with were quite disappointing.

The car had no power or top end speed on any surface other then slick tarmac or indoors... I'd checked all the main locations for reason for this including the diff and spur gears and of course the slipper clutch all seemed fine. However one was not...the diff.

I'd only checked for damaged not for it being too loose, after a suggestion from an oOple forum frequenter I went back and gave the diff a good couple of turns more to tighten it up. Today's run was really quite good. The car had good off the line speed and could really travel across the ground very fast, not as fast as a brushless but might be able to keep up with some B4's and XXX's out there :)
