Cool Bash Spot

I'm trying to get people in Cambridgeshire together to do some bashing around the East Anglia are and have started another blog just focusing on the actual days out... Go check out the blog to see pics of a new location I've found :)

Tip Talk...

Time to write a quick tip post...

I'm currently collecting parts together to hop up a EXB-16 1:16th Buggy that I'll hopefully be doing some racing with and of course some bashing around. The original Alloy parts of the car are all blue, which I do like but I'm currently addicted to Orange and Grey as you can maybe tell by the site colours :)

So I needed a way of getting rid of the blue anodize on the parts, after some research (Squirel's youtube channel) I found you could use Oven cleaner.

So my process is as follows:

Wear Rubber Gloves.
Place alloy parts in plastic tub and spray with Mr Muscle oven foam cleaner. Spray both sides and use plenty of foam.
Put lid on and leave for up to 5mins.
Open up the tub and give the parts a good rubbing with you're fingers (still wearing gloves of course) Top up foam and put back in tub.
After another min give parts another rub.
You should be able to rinse now in warm water and towel dry parts.
Polish parts using any Alloy polish, I used T-cut Original Metal polish. it did a good job.

All this produces a nice clean and buffed alloy part. I'm going to do this with all the alloy, I might now try and figure out how to anodize them orange :) Howver the thought of using acid is a bit scary LOL
